This group is not a general marketplace for buying and selling used personal items. However, we do allow certain types of advertising, promotional, and sales-related posts under specific conditions. Please review the following guidelines to determine what is and is not permitted. Failure to comply may result in removal from the group.
Selling, Buying, and “In Search Of” (ISO) Posts
What is NOT allowed:
Selling personal, used items that would typically be listed in a classifieds website, newspaper, or yard sale group. These should be posted in dedicated groups such as:
- KSL Classifieds
- Eagle Mountain 24/7 yard sales
- Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain, Utah 24/7 Online Sales
- Eagle Mountain and Surrounding indoor/outdoor Yard Sale
- eagle mountain ranches: buy sell or trade!
- Buy/Sell/Trade/Give – Eagle Mountain, UT
What IS allowed:
- Selling handmade, crafted, or personally created items, as long as you have an Advertising ID. Request one at https://emcc.me/id
- Selling products or services as part of an official business with an Advertising ID.
- ISO (In Search Of) posts are allowed. Example:
- “Looking for a queen-sized mattress, does anyone have recommendations?”
- Selling event tickets is allowed, but the event must take place in Eagle Mountain, Lehi, Saratoga Springs, Fairfield, or Cedar Fort.
- Listing things for free.
Elections, Running for Office, & Candidate Posts
If you have an Advertising ID, you’re permitted to post once per day while an election is underway. This system is designed to help candidates focus on active campaigning without needing to track weekly limits or stress over which posts require an Advertising ID.
When You Need an Advertising ID
You must have an ID if all three of the following apply:
- You are currently running for office.
- The election is actively in progress.
- Your post includes any of the following:
- An announcement about your candidacy for the election.
- Discussion of issues relevant to the position you are seeking.
- Commentary on how the current administration could improve.
- Anything similar in nature to the examples above.
When You Do Not Need an Advertising ID
- If your post is informational or event-related, such as:
- “Voting opens tomorrow at 7 p.m.”
- “Join us at tonight’s debate.”
- If your post is unrelated to the campaign or election, such as:
- “Any recommendations for a good lawn care professional?”
These guidelines help ensure fairness and clarity throughout the election process.
Business Promotions & Advertising
If you are promoting a business, fundraiser, or service, you must obtain an Advertising ID before posting. This includes but is not limited to:
- Local businesses, home-based businesses, and service providers (landscaping, home improvement, beauty services, etc.).
- Realtors and real estate listings.
- Charity events and fundraisers.
You may only post once per 7 days about your business, event, or service. For example, if you advertise on Monday, you cannot advertise again until the next Monday. If you advertise on Tuesday, 7 days later is the next Tuesday. That is the soonest you can advertise again. 7 full days must have passed before you can advertise again.
Exceptions (Advertising ID NOT required):
- City-sponsored and school-sponsored fundraisers or events. A few examples of this might include cheer, band, or athletic fundraisers.
- Yard sale announcements.
- Farmers’ market announcements.
- Homeowners selling or renting a personal property.
- One-time promotions by minors (e.g., a child selling lemonade for a day).
Not Allowed Under Any Circumstances:
- Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) promotions.
- Personal fundraisers (e.g., GoFundMe, etc.), unless pre-approved by admins.
- Rehoming, sales, or advertising of animals or pets
