Rule 6: Advertising

Posts that are selling something need to have a business ID before posting.  This is true for pretty much everything.  If you own the business or if you are an employee of the business, you need an ID.  If you are doing hair or nails at a business or out of your home, you need one.  If you are providing any kind of yard work, home improvement services, or anything similar to these, you need one.  Groups, fundraisers, and charities all need business IDs.  If you are selling food out of your house, you need a business ID.  Realtors need a business ID.  If you had to get some kind of license or register your business, you need one.  If you want to sell something, you probably need a business ID.

There are exceptions, as outlined below.

Whether or not you need a business ID, you may only post about your business, event, or service once per week.  If you post on Monday, that is the earliest day you can post the next week.  This weekly policy applies to everyone.

Exceptions

There are a few exceptions to the business ID requirement.  If you are raising money for an organization sponsored by a school or the city, you don’t need one.  If you are announcing an event where things will be sold, you don’t need one.  If a home in your neighborhood is selling, you may post about it once without one.  If a homeowner is advertising for a renter, they also do not need one.

Examples of things that don’t need one:

  • Cedar Valley High School football, cheerleading, debate, or chess team
  • Eagle Mountain City Hall or Library
  • Yard Sale Announcements
  • Farmer’s Market Announcements
  • Someone selling or renting a home they own

Also, please note that we do not allow MLMs in our group.

Lemonade Stand Exception

We want to encourage young entrepreneurs.  So, if a minor would like to advertise a small, one-time event, they do not need a business ID.  If it is more than one time, they need one.

Examples of things that don’t need one:

  • Selling candy on a corner on one specific day
  • Availability one Saturday to mow lawns
  • Have a date on which they can provide pet care
